Hello all,
I want to thank from the bottom of my heart each person who has donated so far. Every single donation has been fully noticed and meant more than I can express. I am deeply grateful for each of you who have shown such generous hearts for my cause. I am very aware that there are many meaningful causes out there, and some could be considered much more significant, but this one is deeply personal, and your impact reaches farther than you know.
While GoFundMe suggested automated goal setting and made the initial goal €700, the reality is this treatment is far more expensive. I have now removed the automated goal setting because of the urgency; I have been told that €3,000 will be the very minimum price, and it is likely closer to €5,000.
The vet clinic is willing to do the procedure with an upfront payment and four months to pay the remainder. Therefore, I want to assure you that the treatment will happen, and your donations are truly making that possible. Still, I am struggling to grasp the implications of this full cost as I try to continue the research I am attempting to do in Germany, which I hope will have a meaningful impact someday and to which I am striving to give my best. Please note, I will continue to give updates on Maisie’s treatment and my ongoing PhD research on my website blogs at www.beyonduswesee.org.
I believe fully that Maisie can get through this. She is showing so much determination to keep being herself; going in the garden and acting like life will continue beautifully together for years, which I am fully believing!
Here is a picture of Maisie living on the ship with me in Rostock, Germany, where we were conducting marine mammal welfare research in preparation for my PhD a couple of years ago. Note her determination to follow me on her three legs wherever I went, and the large sea lions lying on a platform in the water behind her. This is the determined and devoted Maisie I know.
I want to give her the same determination and devotion she has shown me over the years, and I cannot thank you enough for your support. If you are able to share this fundraiser at all, I would really appreciate it.
Thank you so much, and I’m wishing the very best to each of you.
Ellie.
